Note on Husband: Kurt Heinz BARUCH - shared note
Story of Kurt Baruch by his 1st cousin once removed Katherine Mader.
EMail: nkulla AT aol.com
Kurt was an active member of the Zionist Movement. During World War II he assisted in helping European Jews flee to Palestine by boat. When he eventually moved to Los Angeles, California, he continued working in the Zionist movement as well as counseled U.S. draftees who were reluctant to participate in the Vietnam War.
Interestingly, his cousin by marriage, Norman Kulla (married to Katherine Mader, daughter of Ruth Muller, Kurt's first cousin), encountered Kurt when he, Norman, sought draft counseling. Norman was interested in applying for conscientious objector status, and Kurt, quite by accident, was assigned as Norman's draft counselor.
Katherine's parents had not maintained contact with Kurt because they believed that he was too "left-wing" and did not fit in with their new American friends.
