Isaac had a bank in Belz, Poland. He was around six feet tall. In 1914 he left Belz with his wife and children to re-settle in Vienna, Austria. They left because they heard that "the Russians were coming."
The Mader household in Vienna was kosher because of his wife Anna's preference. Isaac was apparently not too religious. The boss of the house was Isaac. He insisted that the entire family eat together, including the married children.
Isaac only worked for a short time in Vienna. He was older, and had a pension. During the Second World War he was sent to Teresienstadt Concentration Camp in the Czech Republic with his wife Anna, and daughters Jenny and Lilly. Due to the fact that Lilly was a nurse and worked in the hospital at the camp, she was able to provide extra food for her family.
After the war, Isaac and his family returned to Vienna where he continued to live until his death at around age 80. He only lived around six months after his wife Anna died. Both Isaac and Anna are buried in the Jewish cemetery in Vienna, Austria.
